Bettie Lee Brown passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Ponca City Nursing and Rehab. She was 87 years old.

Bettie was born on December 28, 1928 in Marland, Oklahoma to Clifford D. Sanders and Pearl Lee (Richardson) Sanders. She grew up and graduated from Marland High School. On June 25, 1947 she married Paul Brown at the Marland Christian Church. Bettie worked as an X-Ray technician for Dr. Glasscock’s office as well as at the Ponca City Hospital. She was an avid vegetable gardener and took care of people as if she was their mother. She loved everyone, especially her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, John Brawley and Frank D. Sanders.

Bettie is survived by her sons, Jim Brown and wife, Carolyn of Ponca City and Davy Brown and wife, Holli of Ponca City, grandchildren, Wesley Brown and wife, Melissa of Ponca City, Kalynn Payne and husband, Brian of Ponca City, and Chastity Weber of Blackwell, great-grandchildren, Destinee Roberts, Temperance Brown, Hunter Lee McKay, Rustin Payne, Michaelah Payne, Bryson Payne, Amberlynn Copple, and Kaedence Copple, brother, Cliff Sanders and wife, Debbie of Tulsa and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial ceremony for Bettie will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Marland Methodist Christian Church. A reception luncheon will be held following the service at Marland Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Humanity Hospice, 13924 Quail Pointe Drive, Ste. C, Oklahoma City, OK 73134 or 101 Ranch Old Timers Association, 8560 S. Ranch Drive, Ponca City, OK 74601.
