NEW YORK CITY - Sylvia Howard, 60, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002.The burial office and Holy Eucharist will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew in Brooklyn. Memorial services will be at a later date in the Episcopal Church Center.
Mrs. Howard was born June 11, 1941, in Oklahoma City. After graduating from Newkirk, Okla., High School, she attended Oklahoma College for Women earning a bachelor's degree in speech therapy.
She moved to Amarillo where she taught at Amarillo Speech and Hearing Center. In 1976 she married Fred Howard and in 1977 they moved to New York City. She worked for several years at the Episcopal Church Center there.
Survivors include her husband; three sisters; a brother; two foster children; 13 nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
