ALICE LENORE HARVEY
Sept. 5, 1922 - Feb. 4, 2004
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park for Alice Harvey, 81, on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. Alice passed away on February 4, 2004, and will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 54 years, Miles, in the Garden of Resurrection. Viewing will be on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Autumn Oaks Funeral Home on Wible Road.
Alice was born September 5, 1922, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Orlo and Birthilda Thomas. She grew up in Blackwell, where she met Miles while he was working for a soft drink company. After he moved to San Diego with his family, he came back to marry Alice on August 2, 1941. They settled in San Diego, where Alice worked at Consolidated Aircraft Co. during World War II. They moved to Bakersfield in 1950. Alice worked for many years in the counseling office at East Bakersfield High School, and later worked in admissions at Kern Medical Center until she retired. After retiring, Miles and Alice bought a fifth- wheel trailer and started traveling. They later joined the No-Name Sam's group and enjoyed many happy years of camping and friendship.
After Miles passed away in 1995, Alice continued to go on the camping trips, as long as she was able to. Alice also loved playing with her grandchildren and working on her many crafts.
Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dennis Kirschenmann; grandchildren, Kristin and Ryan Kirschenmann; and her son, Richard Harvey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles, brothers, Max and Marvin Thomas.
