Peggy Ann Mayo, lifelong resident of Ponca City, died at her home early Saturday morning, February 12, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was 72 years of age.

Peggy was born July 29, 1938 at Mesa, Arizona, the daughter of Harold Don Rudolph and Nita Merle Nelson Rudolph. She was married to Harland Lee Mayo in 1954 and to this union was born a son Harland Dewayne. She was then married to Garland Lee Mayo on April 25, 1964 in Eureka, California with the couple moving to Ponca City in 1971. Mr. Mayo preceded her in death in 1996. She then met Everett Dowell in the year 2000 and remained life partners until her death.

Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of great cooking and baking, especially her chicken and dumplings and her awesome candy. Later in life she took up motorcycles and dancing Boogie Grandma. She enjoyed playing the slot machines and loved her polka music and listening to people sing karaoke.

She is survived by four sons, Garland Mayo Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Ponca City, Harland Dewayne Mayo and wife, Kristin, of Lilburn, Georgia, Peter Allen Mayo of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael James Mayo and wife, Christine, of Ponca City Sharon Dowell of Muskogee, Oklahoma, for whom she thought of as a daughter a former daughterinlaw, Ruby Stark a longtime friend in Alice Wilson 9 grandchildren, Prudence Ritter and husband, Shane, Bambi Buellesfeld and husband, Robert, Amanda Mayo Phillips, Courtney Mayo and fiance, Mark, Chelsea Mayo and fiance, Gerald, Krissy Mayo and fiance, James, Dustin Mayo and wife, Amanda, Desirae Mayo and Loren Denton 14 wonderful great grandchildren, Krissenda, Bethany, Richard, Robert Jr., Gabby, Laina, Wylee, Michael, Keith, Christopher, JD, Mia, Rustyn and Racyn. During her time with Everett she became very close with his other children, John, Jennifer and Marcus. She also became attached to his grandchildren, Koby, Casey, Kara, October, Brittany, Katelynn, Laura and Ambria.

She was preceded in death by her mother her husband, Garland three sisters Sue, Betty and Linda.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Blaine Herron, Pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church presiding. Interment will be beside her husband, Garland, in the Longwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
