James H. Mabry, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed early Sunday morning at his home. He was 61.

James was born May 27, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Floyd L. Mabry and Corrine Helen Cope Mabry. He attended the Amarillo Public Schools and graduated from Amarillo Tascosa High School in 1967. James was involved in Motor Cross Racing and softball while living in Amarillo. He was married to Sherry Sackett on June 3, 1967 in Amarillo where the couple made their first home. The couple lived for a time in Tulsa, Oklahoma where James was very involved in soccer and was the Captain of his adult soccer team and past president of the Soccer Association of Tulsa. He also found time to coach boys soccer and bowl for the Allied Bearing Company bowling team. James was transferred to Ponca City in 1979 where he was named the Branch Manager for Allied Bearing Company.

He was a member of Northeast Baptist Church where he had served as an usher and in earlier years helped care for the church lawn and landscaping. James was an avid fisherman and was a member of FOCAS Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.

James is survived by his wife, Sherry three children, Jason Mabry and wife, Karen, of Ponca City, Sean Mabry and wife, Amy, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Laura Mabry Whiles and husband, Jeremy, of Ponca City two brothers, Fred Mabry and wife, Jodi, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Kenneth Mabry of Shawnee, Oklahoma eight grandchildren, Jacob Mabry, Hannah Mabry, Ashley Mabry, Les Mabry, Haley Mabry, Jack Whiles, Adrianne Whiles and Landon Whiles. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisterinlaw, Wanda Mabry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Northeast Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry
