PONCA CITY — Gary Ward Feil, resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, at St. Francis of Tulsa, Okla. He was 75.

The service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Shamburger officiating. Burial will then follow in Longwood Cemetery, Ponca City, Okla. There will be a formal visitation of the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, Ponca City.

Gary was born Oct. 24, 1936, to Theodore Feil and Eileen (Miller) Feil in Enid, Okla.

He was married to Barbara (Harris) Feil on Sept. 8, 1957, in Ponca City, Okla.

He worked at Conoco as a retirement advisor in Human Resources for 40 years. Gary also owned his own tax preparation and accounting services, Feil & Associates.

At a young age, he would caddy for golf, and from that point on, he developed a love for the game and became an avid golfer, even winning trophies in several tournaments. Gary was a member of the Lions Club and First Baptist Church.

From 1973-1998, he served on the supervisory committee, and from 2001 to the present was a board member for Cherokee Strip Credit Union.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 54 years; two daughters, Deidre Smith of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jennifer Feil-Merrill of Porter, Okla.; grandchildren, Joshua Duval, Victoria Thrash and Matthew Thrash, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brandy Ray of St. Louis, Mo., and Bryce Dotson of Tulsa, Okla.

Preceded in death by daughter, Keli (Feil) Thrash; parents, Theodore Feil, Eileen Delo, and stepfather Max Delo, who took him under his wing.

Casketbearers will be Jeff Merrill, Travis Smith, Bryce Dotson, Loal Feil, Fred Stolhand, James Stolhand, Joshua Ray and Joshua Duval.

Honorary casketbearers will be Dave Simmons, Clark Brown, Martin Thrash and Matthew Thrash.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box, 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or First Baptist Church-Mission Group, 218 South 6th, Ponca City, OK 74601.
