Stella Noel Smethers, 80, of Ponca City, Ok. passed away peacefully on Sunday April 14th, 2013.Noel was born Dec.31, 1932 in New Orleans, La the daughter of the late Everest and Stella Ward Solera. Noel attended Scared Heart School in New Orleans, La.

Noel came to Ponca City in May of 1949 and married Edwin L (Eddy) Smethers they have been married for over 63 years and they lived in Ponca City until her death. Noel is a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and Episcopal Women where she volunteered much of her time. Noel was a bar manager of the Ponca City County Club for 12 years before opening Play Pen Ceramics which she operated for 25 years until retirement. Noel was proficient in ceramics, tole painting and air brushing, she was a true artist. Noel became Executive Director for Ponca City Soccer Inc. in 1996; Noel wore many hats while working as a volunteer and paid official for the Ponca City Soccer Club, besides her role as Ex. Dir. She acted as club registrar, managed club bank accounts, filed required paperwork and assisted her husband Eddy as grounds keeper. Noel’s loyal dedication helped the soccer program run smoothly for over 16 years. Noel will be greatly missed.

Noel was a expert seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of Noel’s favorite pastimes was riding the country on a motorcycle with her husband, Noel traveled 49 states, Canada and Mexico while logging over 500,000 miles. Noel was a lifetime member of BMW Owners of America membership #724 for 41 years. Attended 16 International Rallies where she always volunteered her time, from registration to security.

Noel is survived by her husband Eddy and brother Richard E Solera of New Orleans, La. one daughter Stella Suzanne Faas husband Michael Faas of Roseburg, Or. And one son Lewis Smethers, 3 grandchildren Jeremy Hall Ponca City, Ok. Stella Michele Trusty Gulf Port Ms. Sean Smethers Ponca City, Ok. And 3 great granddaughters Stella Jesselle Duffield, Keira Noel Trusty, Estelle Marie Smethers. Funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church of Ponca City, Ok. Tuesday April 23, at 11am Noel will be interred in the Niche at Grace Episcopal Church.

Donations can be made to Daughters of the King Women of the Grace Church.
