Raymond Leon Freeze

The funeral for Leon Freeze, 69, of Braman, will be 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at Braman Christian Church. The Rev. Jerry Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will follow in Braman Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Blackwell.

Raymond Leon Freeze was born Sept. 28, 1937, in Braman to John William Edward and Dorothy Mae Hawkins Freeze and died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid.

He attended Braman Public Schools and joined the Navy in 1956, receiving an honorable discharge.

He married Sherry Maxine Irons May 25, 1958, in Blackwell, and they made their home in Braman.

He was employed by the state of Oklahoma before going to work for Kay County District 3. He worked for the county for 26 years, retiring Feb. 1, 2000, as a motor grader operator. He was a firefighter with Braman Volunteer Fire Department for several years and attended Braman Christian Church.

He enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities and spending time with his family and his dog, Copper.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of the home in Braman; two daughters, Teresa Stanley and her husband, Glen, of Blackwell, and Violet Hassler and her husband, Kevin, of Ames; one brother, Jerry Freeze and his wife, Virginia, of Beggs; and two grandsons, Kevin and Philip Stanley of Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions can be made through the funeral home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, OK 74631, to Braman Christian Church, Braman Volunteer Fire Department or charity of donor’s choice.
