Earl S. Bourne ~ ~ ~ 1907-1985

Bourne service set for Friday
Earl S. Bourne, former Kay resident, died at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in Green Meadows Nursing Center at Haysville, KS. He was 78.
His funeral is set for 12:30 p.m. Friday in Roberts and Son Chapel. Rev. Charles Shumway, pastor of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Wichita, where Mr. Bourne was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in the Braman Cemetery.
Mr. Bourne was born May 4, 1907, in Mountain View, Mo. and came to southern Kansas with his parents.
He married Nellie Bernice Postlewwaite on July 31, 1927, in Newkirk. They lived in Blackwell then Braman and later Haysville. In each location, Mr. Bourne operated his own mechanic shop, Bourne Motor Companuy. He retired in 1978.
Survivors are his wife, Nellie, of the home, 141 Sarah Lane, Haysville, Ks; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Alta Jean) Steddum, Haysville and Mrs. Wendell (Juanita) Stephen, Los Gatos, CA.; five grandchildren, seven great-children and two sisters, Mary Ann Milford, Blackwell and Stella Koraski, Bowie, AZ.
A sister, Cora Yoder, and four brothers, Wiley, Eddie, Merle and Shepherd Bourne, preceded him in death.
The family will be at the funeral home in Blackwell at 11 a.m. Friday.
A memorial in his name has been suggested by the family to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation kidney fund. The funeral home will act as custodian of the memorial fund.
