Kite Funeral Tuesday
Velma Ione Kite, 79, Blackwell, died Saturday at Blackwell General Hospital.
Her funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the local IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
The body will lie in state until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home then at the church from 1-2 p.m.
Kite was born Feb. 17, 1910 in Blackwell. She grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1927 then attended Kansas University for two years. She then returned to Blackwell to care for her mother until her mother died.
Kite then made her home with her sister.
Kite was a member of first United Methodist Church and a member of Kum Dubl Sunday school class.
She is survived by her sister, Nina Erdwurm, of Blackwell; brother, Max Kite, of Helena, Okla.; and several cousins including Lorene LaGrone, Thelma Bontz and Harold Cooper all of Blakcwell.
Kite was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Kite.
Pallbearers will be Harold Weigle, Jim Rodgers, Bob Berline, Charles Boesch, John Boersma and Bob Breece.
Memorials may be made in Kite's name to First United Methodist Church.
