HELDENBRAND FUNERAL SLATED

Roy E. Heldenbrand, 86, died Wednesday afternoon at Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Grand Island, Neb. Mr. Heldenbrand was visiting relatives in Grand Island when he became ill and died.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. Burial will be in the local IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

He had resided at 511 South Third in Blackwell and was a retired farmer and custodian. He had worked as a custodian for the Blackwell schools unil 1951 and then for the Methodist Church until 1962.

He came to Blackwell from North Platt, Neb., where he was a farmer, and worked for a cheese plant from 1932 until he went to work for the schools.

He was born Oct. 26, 1892 at Cozad, Neb., and grew up in the Cozad area. He was married to Dora Margaret Kelley, July 24, 1918 at North Platt.

Mr. Heldenbrand was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and a navy veteran of World War I.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Bud (Margaret) Martin, Peckham; Mary Loreen Enoch, Hurst, Tex.; 2 sons, Roy J., Ponca City; Clyde B., Cathedral City, Calif.; 2 brothers, Carl, Gothenburg, Neb., and Dale, Centenal, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1 son who died in World War II in Europe, and 2 sisters and his wife in 1952.

Heldenbrand Casketbearers Are Named

Casketbears for Roy Esco Heldenbrand have been announced and will be Jim Cary, Kermit Robertson, David Lundeen, Loren Johns, Dewayne Gray and Ben Stobnecki.

Honorary pallbearers are Kelly Heldenbrand, Robert Heldenbrand, Ronald Heldenbrand, James Martin, David Martin and David Enoch.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church at Blackwell with Rev. Albert Peak, pastor of Braman Methodist Church officiating.

A flag presentation will be made at the graveside in the IOOF Cemetery by the American Legion post. A memorial has been established in his name for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation heart fund. Those wishing to honor his memory may leave donations at the First National Bank in Ponca City or at Roberts and Son Funeral Home in Blackwell.

The family will gather at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Geiger, 119 East Carson.
