Hugh Cooper, 76, Dies; In County Since 1899
Hugh Cooper, 76, Kay County resident since 1899, died at his home 723 East College, at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Cooper, a retired farmer was born March 27, 1876 in Belle Plain, Kans. He had lived in Kay county and Blackwell since making the move to this county shortly before the turn of the century.
Survivors include five daughters, Miss Carol Cooper, Mrs. Mary Bumgardner and Mrs. Lorene Lagrone, Blackwell, Mrs. Olive Paddock of Manford and Mrs. Thelma Bontz of Nardin; five sons Ray, Kenneth, Homer, and Harold all of Blackwell, and Keith of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Kite of Blackwell; and a brother, Lee Cooper of Pond Creek.
The funeral has been set tentatively for Saturday afternoon. Complete arrangements will be announced by Roberts Funeral Home.
Rites for Hugh Cooper Saturday Afternoon
Last rites for Hugh Cooper, 76, who died at his home here Wednesday night, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian church with Rev. Bert Sutton officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Howard Hicks, Earl Hewitt, Roy Shepherd, Forrest Kriter, Ralph Bumgardner and Mack Bonewell.
Members of the Legion auxilliary are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. to attend services in a group.
