Opal Arthene Youell formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday afternoon, August 22, 2010, in the Arbor Assisted Living Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years.

Opal Arthene Youell was born on September 27, 1918, on the family farm near Braman, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Bessie (Courtney) Bumgardner. She graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1936. She married Lawrence Youell on July 28, 1940, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and they settled in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. They moved to Blackwell to make their home in 1950 where she continued to serve her family as a homemaker. Her husband of sixty-three years preceded her in death on May 13, 2004, and she continued to make Blackwell her home until 2006 when she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be near her son. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending many summers in Estes Park, Colorado, with her husband and being with family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell.

She is survived by her son, Jim Youell and wife Sheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Kris Youell of Boerne, Texas; four grandchildren, Greg and Tracy Youell of Omaha, Nebraska, Stephanie Youell Binetti and Michael of Chicago, Illinois, Kelly Cabico of San Antonio, Texas, and Lance Youell; and seven great grandchildren, Anna, Paul, Catherine and Ben Youell, Hunter Youell, and Hanna and Logan Cabico.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Gary Youell.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 25th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Dittman of the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. A reception will follow in the First Presbyterian Church at A and Bridge Street in Blackwell.

The family requests that in lieu in flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Western Kay County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1313 W. Ferguson, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Arbor’s Assisted Living Center for their wonderful care and love for the past four years.
