January 11, 1931 - February 4, 2022

Cecil O. Wood, Jr., formerly of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into glory on February 4, 2022, at his home in Porter, Oklahoma. He was 91. Cecil was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, on January 11, 1931, to Cecil Omen Wood, Sr. and Mary Jane (Czerny) Wood.

Cecil attended Blackwell schools, the University of Oklahoma, and OU Law School. Cecil served as Justice of the Peace in Blackwell, and then worked for the Department of the Interior in the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He spent two years in Muskogee, Oklahoma. working as the field solicitor, and later moved to Pawhuska as field solicitor with the Osage Tribe and also served as a part-time judge, serving the Five Civilized Tribes, until his retirement. Cecil was a fount of knowledge on Osage tribal inheritance law. After retirement, he worked as the city judge for Barnsdall, OK.

Cecil loves and is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed Christian fellowship at East Tulsa Bible Chapel. He was a Rotarian for over 60 years, and served on the board for HELP Works, Inc., assuming the role of President several times.

Cecil married Constance "Connie Lou" Shacklette on January 1, 1960, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They made their home in Pawhuska for 61 years.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lynne (Mrs. Ron) Hughes; a son, Dr. Nathan (Krista) Wood, and 6 grandchildren: Caleb (Sydney), Bonnie, & Hunter Arnold, Luke, Beth, & Joanna Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Blackwell Cemetery in the outdoor chapel with Ken Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
