Clark Funeral Service

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nevalene Wood, 96, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:00 a. m. at the Westside Church of Christ with Stuart Bailey officiating, assisted by Danny Hilliard.

 

Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mrs. Wood passed away on February 3, 2017 at the Blue River Health Care facility.

 

Nevalene was born on April 10, 1920 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Elmer Frank Baker and Malsie Ora (Ayres) Baker. She attended school at Washita Farm, graduating from high school there in 1937. She later attended Murray State College for two years. She married Dewitt Wood on October 15, 1940 in Tishomingo and was a lifelong resident of Johnston County. Mrs. Wood co-owned and operated the Log Cabin station north of Tishomingo for many years and also worked for Larry’s IGA.  Later in her life she was a homemaker and faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading and watching the Lawrence Welk Show on television.

 

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 19, 1995; a brother, Junior Baker; a sister, Emily Bracken; a granddaughter, Breanna Dawn Wood and a great-grandson, Dustin Davis.

 

She is survived by four sons, Dwaine Wood and wife Mary of Kennedale, Texas, Terry Wood and wife Joyce of McKinney, Texas, Danny Wood and wife Kathy of Grand Prairie, Texas and Larry Wood and wife Debbie of Tishomingo; her daughter, Karen Hilliard and husband Danny of Sulphur, Oklahoma; one brother, Eyvan Baker and wife Eva of Ft. Worth, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Kent Wood and wife Deborah, David Wood and wife Sue, Darrell Wood and wife DeAwna, Denny Wood and wife Kari Anne, Leslie Heatley and husband Lawton, Kristi Davis, Kevin Wood, Landon Wood and wife Brooke, Whitney Daniels and husband Chase, Tiffany Atteberry and husband Colin and Rhianan Hilliard; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
