Clark Funeral Service

Funeral Services for Mrs. Clara West Maxwell, 87, of Tishomingo will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 2:22 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dick Sowder officiating, assisted by Rev. Chad Townsley. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell passed away on Friday, February 5th, at her home, north of Tishomingo.

Clara was born on February 22, 1922 in Coleman, Oklahoma to John A. Chaney and Mattie Elizabeth Council Chaney. She attended school in Fillmore and later Murray State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, receiving her Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. She taught school for 42 years, first at Fillmore and then Tishomingo from which she retired. Mrs. Maxwell also worked for INCA and Lena’s Dress Shop. She was married to Earl Lee West until his death and later to Clark I. Maxwell. She was a lifelong resident of Johnston County and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers & sisters.

Mrs. Maxwell is survived by two sons & daughters-in-law, James & Sheryl West and Jerry & Glenna West, all of Tishomingo; her grandchildren, Jenifer West, Kristi Hughes, John West, and James Wesley West, all of Tishomingo, Jamie Vernon & Brice West, both of Mill Creek, Kaylea Billings of Roff, Terry Reed, Gail Kennedy, Christi Dove and Shelly Dodd; (20) great-grandchildren; her brother, Billy Chaney and two sisters, Lorene Nickel and Ann Deaton; other relatives and a host of friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be: John West, J. W. West, Brice West, Jay West, John Michael West and Barry Hughes. Honorary Bearers will be: Kent Vernon, Randal Billings, Ethan West, Terry Reed and Michael Dove.
