Ruth Faye Hitchcock Essary graduated to heaven on February 26, 2020, in Ardmore, OK at age 83.

She was born in Hobbs, NM on January 26, 1937. Her family lived in nearby Eunice. They moved all over Texas and Oklahoma when she was young and she went to grade school and high school in Moses Lake, WA.

Family visitation is Friday Feb. 28, 2020, 6-8 PM at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home, 305 East Main St., Tishomingo, OK.

Celebration of Life and Reception is 2-4 PM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Ravia Church of God Fellowship Hall, 303 S. Mill St.

Interment is at 10:00 AM Tishomingo Cemetery.

Ruth has lived in OK, TX, NM, WA, CA and IN. She was proud to be a Chickasaw Indian. She was a Christian and filled with the Holy Spirit. She attended church in the Assembly of God and Church of God. Ruth moved to Johnston County, OK in about 1958. She worked at Farmers Market and various restaurants in Tishomingo, OK before marrying Mac Essary and raising four children, housewife, mother and grandmother was her career for over 60 years; a second career was associate pastor’s wife for the Ravia Church of God. Ruth held several officer positions for the Christian Women’s Fellowship in Tishomingo and several Oklahoma counties. She was a Cub Scout leader in the late 60’s in Ravia, OK, as well as Sunday school teacher, Missionettes leader and Vacation Bible School teacher in Tishomingo & Mannsville. Painting, writing poetry, reading every Christian book and magazine, collecting church song books, collecting angels figurines and trinkets, sewing clothes, quilting and crochet were some of Ruth’s hobbies. Ruth wrote out the Bible multiple times. She loved flowers and vegetable gardening. Many Sundays she would bring a bouquet of her flowers to adorn the Ravia Church of God sanctuary.

Her children are Becky and Mike Dickenson of Albuquerque, NM; Loretta and John Jones of Ardmore, OK; Tommy and Laurie Essary of Arlington, TX; and Dawn and Harold Seagroves of Shelbyville, TN. There are six grand children and 14 great grand children. Ruth had one Brother, Chester Earl Hitchcock and wife Joyce of Gene Autry, OK.

Preceded in death by her husband Mac Essary of 52 years, father Nevel Olga “Buster” Hitchcock, mother Mary Edna “Nanny” Tollenaar, and father-in-law Wayne Daniel “Toby” Tollenaar.
