Clark Funeral Service

Services for Ruby Elizabeth Ward Beaver, 88, will be held Wednesday, June 23rd 2010 at 10:00am in the Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mrs. Beaver passed away on Saturday, June 19th, at her home in Tishomingo.

Ruby Elizabeth Ward was born August 3, 1921 in Coleman, Oklahoma to Timothy M. Ward and Lillian Gracie Walker. She began school at Coleman and finished high school at Milburn, Oklahoma in 1939. She was saved at the age of 14, in the Milburn Baptist Church, and was promptly baptized in the clear cool waters of Blue River.

After attending Murray College and Draughon’s Business College in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Ruby owned and operated the Milburn Telephone Exchange for several years and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone company for four years. She had 13 ˝ years of government service having worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Social Security Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service in Austin and Fort Worth, Texas.

She established Beaver Tax Service in Tishomingo in 1970 and operated it for more than 20 years. During this time, she also operated the Tishomingo Apartments for 12 years. Ruby served as President of the Tishomingo Chamber of Commerce one year, was a member of the Johnston County Industrial Board, and served on the Johnston County Hospital Board for seven years.

Ruby also had a measure of success as a country songwriter. Poems and other articles that she wrote have appeared in several local and national magazines and newspapers.

She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Beaver, her parents, a half sister Ethel Bennett Upfold, two half brothers, Alvin Bennett and Guy Bennett, and also two grandsons James Riley McGlocklin and Robert Alan Pipkin.

Survivors include her children: Johnny Ward Beaver and wife Janet of Edmond, Oklahoma , LaDonna McGlocklin Pipkin of Tishomingo, Aloma Sue McGlocklin Eaves and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City, and Lyndall Gene McGlocklin and wife LaLonnie of Milburn, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Rene’ Rhodabarger, Gerald McGlocklin, Tracy McGlocklin, Melissa McGlocklin Morris, Dana Eaves Turner, Val Eaves, Tyler Ward Beaver and John Mark Beaver. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Rodney Moore, Gerald McGlocklin, Tracy McGlocklin, Val Eaves, John Mark Beaver and Tyler Beaver. Jason Eaves will be serving as Honorary Pallbearer.
