James Edward Smith

Services for James Edward Smith, 74, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, Revs. Frank Trent and Donna Gustin will officiate.

Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home. He was born December 28, 1942 in Ada to Bob Edward and Lela Mae Sealy Smith. He attended Byng school.

He married Evelyn Lee Moore January 12, 1963. She preceded him in death January 27, 2017. Mr. Smith was a Drilling Superintendent in the Oil and Gas Industry. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church and had served in the U. S. Army as a Paratrooper.
 

Survivors include three daughters, Tina Pogue and husband Richie of Ada, Donna Frye and husband Curt of Seagoville, TX and Lela Frederick and husband Shannon of Ada; a son, James Smith, Jr. and wife Tana of Elk City; a sister, Shirley Hofman of Chickasha; 13 grandchildren, Shannon Pogue, Rachelle Brooks, Cortney Frye, Roxanne Johnson, Chrissy Smith, Amanda Frye, Ahlisha Frye, Bret Frederick, Steve “Meaty” Frederick, Austin Kerr, Maddie Kerr, Devon Warnke and Cameron Smith; and 21 great-grandchildren.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his step-father, Tommy Ligon.


Bearers will be Richie Pogue, William Frye, Shannon Frederick, Shannon Pogue, Bret Frederick and Cameron Smith. Honorary bearers will be James Smith, Jr, Meaty Frederick, Brute Smith and Chickasaw Honor Guard.
