Wendell A. Barnes son of Emmett A. and Bessie (Henry) Barnes, was born February 28, 1921 in Pontotoc, OK., and departed this life on January 8, 2008 in Stilwell, OK., at the ageo of 86 years, 10 months and 10 days.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers; Kermit and Quenton Barnes.

He is survived by 1 sister in law; Ruby Barnes of Stilwell, OK., 1 nephew; Ray Harris of Bartlesville, OK., 1 great niece; Stephanie Harris of Bartlesville, OK., and 1 great nephew; Ivan Harris of North Carolina.

Graveside services were held, Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Pontotoc Cemetery with Rev. Barry Hayes officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
