Graveside funeral services for James Vernon Cogburn, 67, of Sallisaw, OK formerly of Cement, will
be Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, east of Cement, with Rev. Bill
Long, Cement, officiating. Mr. Cogburn died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in Sallisaw. Services are
under the direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher, OK.
He was born June 6, 1937 in Filmore, OK to Lonnie Floyd Cogburn and Willie Gertrude (Scribner)
Cogburn. He grew up in Filmore then Chickasha, he married Swana Del ( Simmons), November 1, 1958
in Chickasha and moved to Cement where they lived until moving to Sallisaw in 1986. He was a self
employed horse trainer until retiring due to health in 1989.
Survivors include; his wife, Swana Del Cogburn of the home, three sons; Vernon and his wife,
Teresa, of Gans, OK, Kevin and his wife, Terry, of Morris, OK, and Orrin and his wife, Vickie of
Sallisaw, one daughter; Dana Mink and her husband, Monty, of Cement. 10 grandchildren; Tyson and
his wife, Sharon, Tessa and her husband, Caleb, Charlsey, Starla and her husband, Brad, Nikki and
her husband, Dean, Brother and Dakotah, Haley, Heather and Hope, one great grandson, Clastil and
one on the way. Six brothers; Leon, Houston, Clyde, Dewayne, Clifton and A. J., one very special
