MAXINE COOK
1941 - 2014
Maxine "Tiny" Cook was born on June 24, 1941 in Caney, Oklahoma to James Jewel and Sadie Clement Lackey and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2014 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 72.
Tiny attended school at Buckholt and Caney and has lived in the Hopewell Community most of her life.
She married Leonard Cook on May 13, 1957 in Durant.
She had a strong work ethic and took pride in everything she did.
She was a devoted member of the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, canning, shopping, watching Gunsmoke, southern gospel music, spoiling her grandkids and spending time with family. Tiny was a loving and dedicated preacher’s wife and a caring mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Sadie Lackey; brother Andy Lackey and sisters Marie Culbreath and Betty Densmore.
Tiny is survived by her husband Leonard Cook of Coleman; children Rodney La-Neal Cook of Coleman; Rhonda La-Nell Mason and husband Chad of Coleman; and Connie La-Dell Howard and husband Ben of Caney; grandchildren Chasidy Bennett and husband Larry; Cameron Mason and wife Emily; Coleman Cook; Taylor Howard and Kelly Howard; great grandchildren Kaden, Camrey and Kane; brother Gary “Tom” Lackey and wife Jone; sister Wathenia Fish; and numerous other family and friends.
A celebration of Tiny’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church. Bro. Randy Tadlock and Bro. Chester Hamilton will officiate.
Interment will follow at Coleman Cemetery with Cameron Mason, Coleman Cook, Chad Mason, Ben Howard and Dallas Neely serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Layton and Kaden Neill. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
