A service was held at 10 a.m. today at Milburn First Baptist Church for Leta Seago, 99, Caddo, who died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at her residence. The Rev. Bud Jenkins officiated.

The daughter of George Washington Armstrong and Mary Ida Spurgin, she was born Oct. 23, 1904, in Lucas, Texas.

She graduated from Milburn High School in 1923 as valedictorian. She graduated from Murray State College with an associates degree and received her bachelors and masters degrees from East Central University in Ada, majoring in English, history and elementary education. She was a school teacher more than 45 years in various Bryan County schools.

Mrs. Seago was the secretary/treasurer for First Baptist Church in Caddo for more than 46 years. She also taught Sunday school more than 60 years, and was a rancher as well.  She married John Seago in 1943.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1971, stepchildren Jewell Winsett, Orville Seago, Carl Seago, and W.C. Seago; brothers and sisters Arzie Armstrong, Mellie Florence Armstrong, Martha Elizabeth Armstrong, Sarah Ruth Korthase, David Armstrong, George Washington Armstrong and Elmer Earl Armstrong.

Survivors include stepdaughters Addell Williams, Covina, Calif., and LaVern Wright, Durant, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Burial will be in Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn under the direction of Campbell- Watts Funeral Home in Tishomingo.
