Criswell Funeral Home, Ada

Services for Clyde Robert McCreary, 85, of Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church, Jeff McCreary will officiate.

Burial will follow at Condon Grove Cemetery near Milburn.

Mr. McCreary died Monday, October 19, 2015 at an Ardmore Veterans Center. He was born April 7, 1930 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Ernest LeRoy and Stella Lee Lollis McCreary. He moved to Ada in 1967 from McAlester.

He received a Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern State University and did graduate work at East Central University. He married Arletta McJunkin December 23, 1959. Mr. McCreary was a school teacher and principal at Mill Creek and later retired from the Social Security Office in Ada after 25 years of service. Mr. McCreary was a member of the First Christian Church and a life-time member of the Tishomingo Lodge AF & AM.

He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Arletta, of the home; a son, Robert McCreary of Ada; daughter, Susan Caton of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Matthew McCreary, Jennifer Rehyer and husband Lucas, Jonathan Caton and Benjamin Caton and wife Katie; two great-grandchildren, Leah Marie Caton and Brooke Ryanne Caton; a brother, Jerry McCreary; and two sisters, Joan Hobbs and Joy Neely.
