Services for Dorothy Vivian McKnight, 87, of Burneyville, were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31 at Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Norton officiating. Interment followed in the Terral Cemetery.
 
Born October 13, 1922 in Montague County, Texas, the daughter of Charlie Edward and Mary E. Abshier McCalip, she died Sunday, December 27, 2009 in the Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
 
A resident of Burneyville for the past 30 years, Mrs. McKnight had previously lived in the Fort Worth, Texas area. She and Wylie A. McKnight were married March 13, 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2001. Mrs. McKnight graduated as valedictorian of the 1941 class of Union Valley High School, Union Valley. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. McKnight was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marietta. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
 
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Bobby Watson of Reno, Nevada, Mary and Douglas Pearson of Draper, Utah, and Betty McKnight of Austin, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Frankie McCalip of Burneyville, Billy and Willa McCalip and Joe and Wanda McCalip, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Juanita Arey, also of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 
Pallbearers were sons-in-law, Bobby Watson and Doug Pearson; grandsons, Stephan Bryson and Noah Crist; and nephews, Jimmy Coffman and Billy Wayne Arey. Honorary bearers were Roger McCalip, Billy Ray McCalip, Darrin Ard, Randy Crist, Ronnie McCalip and Kevin Stinson.
 
This obituary included a picture of Mrs. McKnight.
