Claude Wesley Whittington, Jr.
Better Known as "Wes" to all who knew him.
Nov. 5, 1925 - Nov. 16, 2006
Wes was born in Ringling, Oklahoma, the son of Share Croppers, Claude and Etha Whittington. He passed away in Bakersfield, California.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife of 53 years, Bernice, and his daughter, Kathy Ewings.
He is survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jymme and Matthew McCrackin, Sammantha and Mason McCrackin, all of Porterville, Roni and Christopher Ebert of North Carolina, Tiffany, Michael and J. T. Ewings all of Tacoma, WA, brothers, Oscar Whittington, Delbert Whittington and Jim Whittington, sisters, Shirley McNeil, LaVerne Davis and LaFern Robbins. He had too many nieces and nephews to name but loved each and every one of them.
Wes migrated with his family to California during the dust bowl era in the late 1940s where he met the love of his life, Bernice.
Once settled he became a brick layer and contractor until his retirement. He was quite the artist working with leather, gem stones, and he was also an accomplished painter. He was loved by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held on November 21st, at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. Viewing to be held on November 20th, from 4-8 p.m. at Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave.
