DIMMITT - Harley N. Dyer, 86, died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home Ivey Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Dyer was born in Addington, Okla., on April 19, 1915. He was the eldest son of one of the first oil field workers of The Texas Company, later known as Texaco.
He began his work career as an oil field worker, continuing this in Montague County. In 1962, he moved to the Texas Panhandle where he used those same skills putting in underground water irrigation systems.
He was owner and operator of Dyer Well Service in Dimmitt for many years. He married Elberta Howard of Montague County on Aug. 25, 1938, and together they raised a daughter.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Harlene Dyer Trlica of Baltimore, Md.; and two grandsons, Derek Trlica and Tom Trlica.
