Submitted by: Alex Carter

March 9, 1926 - March 9, 2004
After a long and courageous battle with cancer Orvel went to be with his soul mate, Billie Rose, on his 78th Birthday.
Born in Stigler, Oklahoma he moved to Bakersfield, joined the Army and fought in WW II. As a meat cutter by trade, in 1967 he started the 11-C Meat Business which he brought his whole family into, at one time having five stores located in Taft and Bakersfield. His son, Ron Kennedy still owns and operates the 11-C Meat department on Roberts Lane in Oildale. Dad had a passion for fishing and met his match in Billie. She kept him on his toes.
Orvel had a strong love for his family and is survived by one sister, Zella Tidwell; five brothers, DL, Ike, Dub, Carl and Harold; five children, Louise Upshaw, Ron Kennedy, Kathy Gregory, Gail Mister, Bryan Kennedy, Ten grandchildren and their children.
At his request there will be no funeral services. A special thanks to Scotty, Christian and Hoffmann Hospice for all their special help.
We'll see you later Dad, Chief, General and Grandpa, you will always be OK.
