Doris Joy (Smith) Bunker went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2014. She was born on June 24, 1924 in Alden, Kansas to Isaac W. and Lola A. (Conley) Smith. She was the middle child of five children in the family. Being the only girl made it a fair bet that she was a little spoiled. The Smith family lived on a farm outside of Laverne, but moved into town during the Dirty 30's. Joy graduated as valedictorian of her high school class in Laverne.

On April 6, 1942, Joy married William Charles "Bill" Bunker. To this union two children were born. Joy was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Laverne and was a strong member of the Laverne United Methodist Women. She loved to oil paint and sold her paintings or gave them to family and friends for gifts. She worked at the Globe Clothing Store as a sales clerk and master seamstress for 23 years. Joy was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed baking cakes to take to church. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill who passed on September 18, 1981; her parents; and her four brothers, Paul, Robert, Leonard and David. She is survived by her daughter, Sue and husband Lannie Zoldoske of May, OK; her son, Kenneth William and wife Laura Lee Bunker of Sedalia, MO; four grandchildren, Nancy Stinson, Brian O'Hair, William Charles "Bill" and wife Shiela Bunker and James Edward Bunker; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Steve Madrid, PA, the staff of the Harper County Hospital and the staff of Parkview Point Senior Living Center. Services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Laverne United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Laverne Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Myatt-Laverne Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at www.schillingfhg.com Memorial donations made in Joy's name may be made to the

Laverne United Methodist Women, P.O. Box 612, Laverne, Oklahoma 73848 or to a local charity of your choice. - See more at: http://www.woodwardnews.net/obituaries/x493475375/Doris-Joy-Smith-Bunker#sthash.cLbuVj9a.dpuf
