James Arnold Reed, 88, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 26, 2002 in Tuscon, Ariz. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dan Bouchelle, senior minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Reed was born in Hollis, Okla., the youngest of seven boys, and raised in the Clarendon and Hedley area. He was in the Navy and served in World War II. He was a professional horseman and trainer and was known for his handmade and braided leather work.
Before their deaths he did work for Ben Johnson and Lee Marvin. He was a very loving and caring man, who will be dearly missed by his children and grandchildren. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by all of his older brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Garry A. Reed and wife, Kathy, and Hardy B. Reed and wife, Sharon, all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Chris Reed and wife, Teresa, and Stacie Medrano and husband, Jason, all of Amarillo, and Clint Reed and wife, Tracy, of Grand Junction, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Virginia Rice of Tucson.
