Emma Ray Benton, 88, of Amarillo, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Paramount Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Babbitt, pastoral care minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
Mrs. Benton was born in Memphis, Texas. She worked in food service for the Amarillo Independent School District, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church, and a former member of the San Jacinto Lions Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Benton, whom she married Nov. 7, 1931, in Hollis, Okla.; two sons; a daughter; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include eight daughters, Carol Wood and Janie Bledsoe, both of Austin, Joyce Jobe of Pflugerville, Bonnie Wilson of Memphis, Rita Bryant, Peggy Vinson and Debbie Sims, all of Amarillo, and Susie Benton of Baytown; two sons, Bobby Benton of Austin, and Jimmy Benton of Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister, Othelle Spruill of Memphis; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western, Amarillo, TX 79109.
