Earl Woodrow Seigrist, age 79, of Hollis, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012, from Norman Specialty Hospital, in Norman. He said, I fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Earl was born in Vian, Oklahoma, on September 17, 1932, to Curt and Eleanor Rowena (Vaughn) Seigrist. At age five, the family moved to Clinton and later to Elk City. At age seventeen, Earl began his ministry with the Church of Christ, and as an evangelist he traveled from coast to coast preaching the gospel, telling all who would listen that Jesus loves them. Moving to Oklahoma City, he married the love of his life, Chiquita Jenkins, on April 5, 1964, in Clinton, Oklahoma. Through the years, Earl preached at the Park Lane Church of Christ, in Lawton, at the Martin Church of Christ, South of Hollis, the Dodson Church of Christ, in Dodson, Texas. As opportunities arose he preached in many other congregations. He preached Easter Service at the Parklane Church of Christ in Lawton in 1950 and again 60 years later in 2010. Earl began working in the maintenance department of Hollis High School in 1978 and retired in 2000. He also became the voice of "The Hollis Tigers" at football games. He made it a point to announce the accomplishments of all the players, with enthusiasm, because each player deserved to have their name announced for all to hear. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed announcing anniversaries, special events, and birth days during a lull in the game. He said for a quarter he would tell how old a person was and for another quarter how much the person weighed.

Preceding him to Heaven are Curt, Eleanor, one sister Louise Radke, and 2 grandsons Ethan and Joshua Seigrist.

Surviving family include his wife Chiquita of the home, two sons Andrew Seigrist and his wife Angela of El Maton TX, David Seigrist and his wife Chuleeporn of Hollis; one daughter Angela Cunningham and her husband Jeff of Hollis. Eight grandchildren, Adam Seigrist, Nathan Seigrist, Caitlin Seigrist, Alexander Seigrist, Wuthiphat Thawinitkul, Methaphon Thawinitkul, Desire' Hill, and Larren Hill; one sister, Polly Lacy of Clinton, Oklahoma; his step mother Jewel of Sayre, who brought Earl to Christ, five brothers, Charles Seigrist and wife Carol of Georgia, Milton Seigrist of Kansas, Gary Seigrist and wife Ann of Elk City, Larry Seigrist and wife Debbie of Sayre, Donnie Marshall and wife Chris of Texas, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Earl Seigrist will be at 1:30, p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Hollis Church of Christ with Byron Caldwell, Andrew Seigrist, and David Seigrist officiating.

A private family interment will follow at Mangum Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
