Mamie Kornegay, age 92, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Mangum, passed away late Monday evening, February 18, 2012, at Grace Living Center, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Kornegay was born in Mangum, Oklahoma, on November 2, 1920, to Hugh Alfred and Susan Sylvia (Cline) Fry. After graduating from Altus High School, she married A.J. Kornegay on April 17, 1938. They traveled several years with their work, living in several different states. Moving back to Mangum in 1965, she worked as an accountant and homemaker. She was a member of the Sorosis Club, the Presbyterian Church and Friends of the Library. In her spare time, she loved to sew, cook and read. After her husband’s death, she moved to Oklahoma City in 2005, to be closer to her family.

Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert A. Fry, her husband and daughter, Susan Letson, she is survived by her son Carey Michael Kornegay of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Gwen Knot, Andrew Letson and John Letson; one sister, Ruth Richards of Oklahoma City and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Wendell Harris officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
