Funeral services for Fred L. Hubert, Sr. of the Mooreland area will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward.

Interment will be held at the Granite Cemetery on Friday, 8 April 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Woodward on Wednesday, 6 April 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Fred Louis Hubert Sr. was born 18 November 1931 to Francis Louise Beal and John Henry Hubert in Elmer, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma in 1954 and received certification as a Cannery Specialist from the University of Arizona for the LDS Cannery. Fred found his helpmate and love, Mary Laughlin and they were married 21 November 1955 in Arnett and were sealed for time and eternity on 21 November 1985 in the LDS Dallas Temple, Dallas, Texas.

Children of the home are Mary Josephine Ferril and her husband Jon; Jony W. McLaren-Perkes and her husband Don; Fred Louis Hubert III and wife Karen; Jadie Hubert Johnson and her husband Kevin; and Jerald Duane Hubert. They had fifteen grandchildren and their spouses; Mari and Israel Marcano of Plano, Texas; Jon Thomas Ferril of Roundrock, Texas; Thora W. Fox of Tuttle; Johnathon E. and Shenick Fox of Albuquerque, New Mexico; William and Marie Fox of Shawmut, Montana; Katy and James Bowen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Freddie Hubert IV and wife Felicia of Lubbock, Texas; Jesse Johnson of Granite, Illinois; Mollie and Mark Fickas of Granite, Illinois; Hannah and Arturo Najera of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a total of twenty-three great grandchildren. Fred had two brothers and three sisters; Mary Francis Kuykendall, Loretta Zeigler, Ruth Liverson, George Hubert and Leroy Hubert.
 

Fred worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for thirty-eight years before retiring on 7 November 1992 as Assistant Train Master. He belonged to the United Transportation Union, was a lifetime member of the Masons, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, NARVRE, ABATE. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a High Priest. He served in the National Guard then the Reserves.
 

His special interests included woodworking, sharpening scissors, locksmith, horse training , electrician and living on the farm. He loved birds of all sizes from the small Grey Cheek Pocket Parrot to the large Emu and everything in between.
 

Fred departed this earth at 8:09 p.m. on 4 April 2011.
 

Those who met him upon his arrival were his parents, John Hubert and Francis Louise Beal Hubert, his sister Mary Francis Kuykendall, his grandparents and parents-in-law and other friends and family members there. Fred is now on an extended Mission and will meet the rest of us when we get there.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ABATE with the funeral home accepting the memorials.
