ENID — MEDFORD — Funeral service for Laverna A. Aebi, 96, will be 2 p.m. today, May 22, 2012, at Jefferson United Methodist Church
with Rev. Sandy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery, east of Medford. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. Medford. Memories may be shared
with the family at www.lanman memorials.com.

Laverna was born April 9, 1916, on the farm near Jefferson, the daughter of August and Flora Hoemann Schmitz.

She was a great basketball player for Jefferson High School, where she graduated.

After she and Carl Fredrick Aebi were married on July 31, 1936, they lived and farmed west of Jefferson.

Her love of sports continued throughout her whole life. She went to all the games of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid OU fan and loved to watch all
sports events. When she could no longer see the games, she listened, either on television or on the radio. When she was 94, she took her first airplane ride to see a St. Louis Cardinals
game.

Laverna was a member of Riverdale Grange, the women’s extension group, and served on the election board until two years ago.

She cooked at Jefferson School for 10 years, and then the school closed in 1964; however, she still made bread every day.

She crocheted afghans, made other crafts and sewed her own clothes. Laverna loved making block quilts and made them for all her children and grandchildren. She had gone with Gary to
check cattle as long as she was able.

She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and sang in a quartet when she was younger. She loved to hear the church choir sing.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Harold; and one daughter-in-law, Johnnie Mae.

Laverna is survived by her children, Delvin Aebi and wife Mary Ann of Medford, Charles Aebi of Enid, Bob Aebi and wife Kathryn of Medford, Gary Aebi and wife Barbara of Medford; 12
grandchildren, Mark and Tori Aebi, Kathy Moore, J.C. and Jodi Aebi, Jeff and Leasha Aebi, Shawn and Jennifer Aebi, Shelly and Rod Haskins, Tray Aebi, Kateena Aebi, Kimberly and Steve
Matthews, Sheila and T.D. Buck, Alysia Keller and Ryan and Becky Aebi; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Schmitz; as well as several nieces and
nephews.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Jefferson United Methodist Church or Image Hospice.
