ENID, Okla. — Service for Billie Skaggs, who went to her heavenly home on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Sterling House, Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Lamont United Methodist Church. Graveside service will follow in Lamont Cemetery. Arrange-ments by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek, Okla.

Billie was born in rural Beckham County, near Carter, Okla., on Oct. 8, 1926, and served her Lord, her family, and her community.

She graduated from Enid High School, class of 1944.

Billie married Frank Skaggs June 1, 1947. They farmed one mile east of Lamont until October 2010.

Billie volunteered at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for about 40 years; read to DCLA second-graders, weekly, for 16 years; and taught an adult Sunday school class at Lamont UMC for many, many years. For many years, she hosted field trips to observe sheep shearing for DCLA pre-K and Kindergarten kids. She was active in U.M.W., Willing Workers Club, Eastern Star and sponsored M.Y.F. and Rainbow Girls.

She was an artist who loved to oil-paint. She liked to read and was a great cook.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents, Terrell and Jessie (Galloway) Meredith; and infant grandson, Ryan Carter Skaggs.

She is survived by sons, Dennis and wife Susie of Enid, and Lyndal and wife Maxie of Lamont; nine grandchildren, Lara Skaggs, Stillwater, Amy (Dustin) Birchfield, Enid, Jason (Amy) Skaggs, Enid, Shawnda (Jim) Davis, Melissa, Texas, Amber (Jason) Proctor, Perry, Ryan (Krissy) Skaggs, Lamont, Todd Skaggs, Fort Worth, Texas, Brian Devoll (Amanda), Enid, Sarah Devoll Christensen (Brent), Gurnee, Ill.; and 14 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Lamont United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Lamont United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
