Dorothea Gail Tingley “Dot” Mcwilliams passed peacefully on March 2, 2019 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Dorothea was born in in Enid,Oklahoma on May 23, 1937 to Gaylord and Lucille (Arends) Tingley. She was raised in Lamont where she attended school and graduated from Lamont High School with the class of 1955. She attended College at Oklahoma A&M (currently Oklahoma State University) with a major in Home Economics. She then attended and graduated from Northern Oklahoma College in 1970. Dorothea married David McWilliams in Las Vegas on December 2, 1962. They began their life together in California before making their way back to Lamont, Oklahoma where they settled and raised their family. Dorothea took pride in her life, family and work.

She was employed at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas; Tiernan’s Office Equipment in Santa Ana, California; Beckman Instruments in Fullerton, California; Knudson’s Dairy Products in Santa Ana, California for 5 years; Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell for 10 years; Ponca City Hospital for 10 years; Osler Clinic in Blackwell for 15 years and Kay County Internal Medicine in Ponca City, Oklahoma for 10 years. Dorothea was a skilled seamstress throughout her entire life. She enjoyed making her own clothing as well as clothing and Quillows for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She enjoyed singing, crotchet, laughing and loving. She loved to love on everyone around her especially her family. One of her favorite things to do was to have tea parties with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many nicknames including “Aunt Dot”, “Grandma Dot”, and “Grandma Coffee”. Family and Faith was everything to Dorothea. She was a fervent prayer and believer in Jesus. She was a member of Lamont Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, David McWilliams of the residence; children, son, Daniel McWilliams of Lamont, and daughter, Joan and spouse David Rector of Tonkawa; Sister, Mary Soucek of Palestine, Texas; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothea was preceded in passing by her parents; son, John David McWilliams and brother, Harold Dean Tingley.

The family has selected First Christian Church of Lamont as appropriate for memorial donations.
