Lamont Cemetery


Lamont – The funeral for Roscoe McBride, 70, who died Tuesday at his home in Lamont, will be at 2 PM Friday at Lamont First Christian Church. The Rev. Ruth Tipps will officiate. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

He was born January 7, 1919, in Lamont and lived in the Lamont and Tonkawa areas all of his life. He attended Rich Valley and Lamont schools and served in Europe during World War I I.

He and Dorothy Zadny were married July 17, 1943, in Mississippi. She preceded him in death. They had one son and two daughters.

On April 1, 1966, he married Arlene Mills in Tonkawa. He was a member of Lamont First Christian Church, American Legion, MAGB Advisory Committee, Grant County Advisory Committee and active in the senior citizens group.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Wanda Wright of Stillwater and Martha Fann of Olathe, Kansas; one stepson, Charles Mills of Houston; two step daughters, Saundra Mills of San Diego and Sherice Schultz of Enid; one brother, Robert of Blackwell; three sisters, Ada Steiger of Pond Creek, Nola Crees and Vera Grubb, both of Lamont; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, one son and at one grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
