James Howard, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of James "Jim" Howard Jr. were held at 3 p.m. May 28, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3600 Northwest Expy. in Oklahoma City. Graveside services were held earlier that morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Hawley Cemetery, Grant County, Oklahoma.

He was born June 3, 1936, to James Sr. & Doris (Howland) Howard in Manchester, Oklahoma and died May 18, 2014.

He grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, graduating from Enid High in 1954. He went on to briefly study architectural engineering at OSU. He married Jean Francis Krey in 1959 and they and moved to Oklahoma City. They had five children. His marriage ended in 1984. For most of his career, he worked in the oil and gas industry as a petroleum draftsman, working for many well-known companies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and only daughter, Jennifer Lane Howard.

Surviving are his four sons, Scott and spouse Sonya, of Edmond, and their daughters, Madison and McKenna; Jay and his children, Jenna and Jack, of Edmond; Brent and spouse Michelle, of Overland Park, KS, and their children, Nathan and Emily; and Brian and spouse Danielle and their two children, Ian and Sara. Also, Jim is survived by a brother, William "Bill" and sister-in-law Phyllis, of Canton; and sisters, Arleta and brother-in-law Frank Jones, of OKC; Meredith Gunn, of Houston, TX; and Debbie Schofield, of Chandler. Jim leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well.

He loved fishing, going to the movies, and spending time with his many friends, who were such a special blessing to him in the last 30 years of his life
