Annis Loretta [Parker] Woodall

LAST RITES HELD THURS. FOR MRS. J. J. WOODALL

Services for Mrs. Annis L. Woodall, mother of Parker Woodall and early-day resident of Verden, were held at the First Methodist Church, Verden, Thursday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. with the pastor of the church, Rev. Tom Graham, officiating. Interment was in Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Aubrey Finley, Mrs. Ed Adkisson, Mrs. Harry Dodson and Mrs. C. W. Hamill sang 'In the Garden,' 'Where He Leads Me' and 'Whispering Hope.' Mrs. Donald Brown was pianist.

Casket bearers were Aubrey Finley, M. B. Franklin, R. E. Flood, Richard, B. F. Loveless and Roscoe Hendrix of Chickasha. Annis Loretta Parker was born on July 10, 1871 at Youngsport, Texas and passed away at Chickasha, Okla., June 22, 1955 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She was united in marriage to John J. Woodall in Saledo, Texas, August 17, 1901. They moved to Verden in 1911, to Norman in 1920 and to Chickasha in 1955.

She was a member of the Verden Methodist Church and was very active in church work when they lived here. She majored in piano and voice at Baylor University, Waco, Texas and was active in music circles until her later years.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Woodall of Chickasha; two sons, Person E. Woodall of Verden; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Miss Neoma Parker of Austin, Texas.

Also here to attend the services are Mr. Woodalls brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Woodall of Fort Worth, Texas.

SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN J. WOODALL

Funeral services for John J. Woodall, a pioneer farmer in this community, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5 at the Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Watson officiated. Burial was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ed Adkisson, Mrs. Don Lair, Mrs. Dale Henricks and Mrs. Donald Brown sang 'In the Garden' and 'Beyond the Sunset.' Mrs. Brown sang 'An Evening Prayer.' Mrs. E. L. Gardner accompanied them on the piano.

Casket bearers were Claude Eurton, Alvie Grizzle, Roscoe Hendrix, R. L. Brown, R. E. Flood and B. F. Loveless.

Mr. Woodall was born January 7, 1880 at Salado, Texas and passed away on July 3, 1956 at Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years, five months and 25 days.

He came to Verden in 1911, moved to Norman in 1920, and to Chickasha in 1955.

His wife preceded him in death on June 22, 1955. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Person E. Woodall, Norman, Okla. and Parker Woodall of Verden, one brother, Arthur Woodall of Big Springs, Texas; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mabel [McVey] Woodall-Field

Mable came to Verden with her parents in 1908, shortly after her father graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

She attended the Cyril and Verden grade schools and graduated from Verden High School.

On December 6, 1924 she married John Parker Woodall. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1975. She later married J. Field on April 30, 1979.

Mable was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO, with a life membership in the Alumni Association; she belonged to Pi Gamma Mu, national Social Science Honor Society; attended the University of Oklahoma and taught school at Amber, Verden, and Riverside Indian School at Anadarko.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother John Arthur McVey.

Mable was survived by her husband J. Field; one daughter Georgia Oxford; three grandchildren Dr. E. R. Nelson, Chris Blakemore and Parker Nelson; four great-grandchildren Eddie and Bales Nelson, and Michelle and Christi Walling.

Funeral services were held at the Verden First Baptist Church with Rev. Burl Mackey, pastor officiating.

Burial was under the direction of Hansen Binyon Chapel of the Brown-Binyon Funeral Home of Chickasha.
