October 23, 1943 ~ February 20, 2006


Funeral service for Charles D. Fiske, age 62, of Verden will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Verden. Chaplain John Cahill will officiate.

Charles D. Fiske was born the son of Charles S. Fiske and Jannette Mercer on October 23, 1943, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He died on February 20, 2006, at his home in Verden.

He married Phyllis Jane Thomasson on June 22, 1963 in Santa Ana, California.

Charles worked as a carpenter which took him to many places in his life. He eventually settled in Verden. During his life, he worked as a carpenter and craftsman.

His handiwork is seen all over Grady and Caddo County.

Charles attended the Grand Assembly of God Church in Chickasha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Scott Douglas Fiske, and two grandsons, Addison Douglas Pennel and Nathan Balentine.

Survivors include: wife: Janie Fiske of the home; son & wife: Timothy & Cathy Fiske of Verden; daughter & husband: Angela & Jim Pennel of Mangum; daughter: Tina Michelle Fiske of Anadarko; daughter & husband: Shanda & Eugene Balentine of Laverty; daughter: Lori Fiske of California; son: Steven Fiske of the home; son: Cody Fiske of the home; nineteen grandchildren; two great granddaughters & one on the way; brother: Roy Fiske of Florida; sister: Joyce Stone of Washington; sister: Ruth Todd of Michigan; sister-in-law & husband: Loretta & Tim Sullivan of California; sister-in-law & husband: Kaylan & Robert Grimes of Chickasha; sister-in-law & husband: Joyce & Alvie Bishop of Verden; sister-in-law & husband: Tammy & Ron Pew of Amity, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, friends & neighbors.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home.
