Edith Cecil [Haskins] Wood

Graveside service for Edith Cecil Haskins Wood of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha.

Edith Cecil Haskins Wood was born January 28, 1907, in Watonga, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Kenneth and Martha Mary (Grover) Haskins, and died October 18, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Wood came to Chickasha in 1940. She graduated from USAO and taught at Jane Brooks School for the Deaf for over 21 years.

She played the piano for silent movies starting at the age of 12. She played the piano for the Chickasha Lions Club for over 50 years.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Walton Wood, on February 3, 1974.

Survivors include: 1 daughter, Verla Vernon of Chickasha; 2 granddaughters: Leanna Sorcar, Ingrid Goldberg; 1 grandson, Glen Vernon; 3 great grandchildren: Natalie Goldberg, Aaron Goldberg, Nemesia Sorcar; 2 great great grandchildren, Jordan Jackson, Kalen Goldberg.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
