Gerald "Jerry" Wilkins

Funeral services for Gerald "Jerry" Wilkins, 67, of Chickasha will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009, in the Bible Baptist Church.

Jerry Wilkins was born January 24, 1942, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Rufus and Fay Wilkins. He died May 3, 2009, at his home in Chickasha.

He grew up in Alex, Oklahoma on the family farm. He attended Alex schools through high school.

After attending the University of Oklahoma, Jerry began to work in the electrical trade, starting with Pitchford Electric in Chickasha. He later purchased the business and operated it as Wilkins Electric for over 30 years.

On January 28, 1963, Jerry married the love of his life, Brenda [Brown] Wilkins. They have had 46 wonderful years together.

Jerry spent many years working with the youth of Chickasha through Little League and Mighty Mights and was always willing to provide opportunities for youth who might not otherwise have had the chance to participate.

Jerry was an early riser and could be found in a coffee shop somewhere in Chickasha most any morning, solving the world's problems with the rest of the coffee shop crowd.

His biggest joy was his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and one brother, Wayne Wilkins.

He leaves behind is wife, Brenda, of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law: Gerald Wilkins, of Oklahoma City and Scott and Melissa Wilkins, of Lee's Summit, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law: Charlotte and John Beaver, of Edmond; three grandsons: Morgan Wilkins, Parker Beaver and Jack Beaver; two sisters: Wanzell Shipman and Noella Haynes.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Special Care Inc., which is a School for special needs children, at 12200 North Western, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73114.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
