Genava Lee [Taylor] Webb

Funeral services for Genava Webb will be Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 19 a.m. Southern Oaks Church of Christ. All are welcome. There is in state viewing at Sevier Funeral Home, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Genava Lee Taylor was born to James Taylor and Lillie Haynes Taylor in Rush Springs, Oklahoma on June 12, 1911. In 1928 Genava moved to Chickasha with her parents so she could attend Oklahoma College for Women. While attending OCW she worked at Woolworth's. In 1929 Genava went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., where she met a charming and ambitious young man who would bring her hamburgers from Roe's Café where he worked.

After a six week courtship, Genava married him, became Mrs. Clarence T. Webb, and moved into their home on 18th Street. From 1932-1954 the Webbs owned a hamberger stand at 7th and Chickasha Avenue. "Clarence's Root Beer and Barbeque." Genava baked ALL the pies that Clarence sold in the shop, often as many as 12 pies a day, for 22 years.

In 1934 Genava gave birth to the Webb's only child, Carol June - now June Heister of Simi Valley, California. June produced two grandchildren who are now Jennifer Taylor and Jeff Heister of Los Angeles, California.

Retirement years found the Webbs on 20th Street where they planted all types of flowers and fruit trees and 20 pecan trees. Genava also engaged in every type of craft project, her favorites being painting ceramics and crocheting afghans.

Genava lived her life in Rush Springs andChickasha, but she visited every state in the U.S. and Mexico and Canada. After 59 years of marriage Clarence passed away in 1990, and Genava became one of the original residents of the Sterling House in 1996. Every Friday night, her friends visited her there and played dominoes like professionals!

In 1997 she became a great grandmother when Jeff produced Jake Webb Heister. Her last years were also made especially bright and happy by her two nieces, Barbara Ann Reid and Genava Jean Low of Yukon.

Genava was feisty, curious, and independent to the end of her life. She spent the last year laughing or napping, until she closed her eyes for the last time for a nap before dinner on July 1, 2006.

To say that "she will be missed," does not describe the hole she will leave in the fabric of her community and in the hearts of people who love her.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to June Heister, 643 Double Eagle Drive, Simi Valley, CA 93065 or to juneheister@sbcglobal.net.
