Mabel Estella [Burke] Wallace

Funeral service for Mabel Estella Wallace, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 12, 1995, at the First Christian Church. Rev. Jim Moore will be officiating, assisted by Mr. Charles Moore.

Mrs. Wallace was born January 2, 1914, in Chickasha, the daughter of William Thomas and Elgia Estella (Baum) Burke, and died Sunday, July 9, 1995, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Wallace lived in Chickasha all of her life. She and Keith Wallace were married on June 9, 1935, in Chickasha. They were married 60 years and one month.

Mrs. Wallace taught in the math department at Oklahoma University and O. C. W. (now USAO). She taught math and chemistry at Chickasha High School for 34 years retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Wallace worked as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She was a life long member of the First Christian Church and was a member of the Twentieth Century Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Wallace was also a member of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association and the National Education Association.

Survivors include her husband Keith Wallace of the home; one daughter, Keitha Kay Wallace of Chickasha; one son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) Keith and Carol Wallace of Chickasha; three grandchildren, Laurie Whitener and husband Kevin of Chickasha, Nikki Wallace of Chickasha and Justin Wallace, also of Chickasha; two great-grandchildren Kristine and Bethany Whitener of Chickasha and various other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
