Carl Homer Stilwell

Funeral for Carl Homer Stilwell, age 84, of Chickasha will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2006, Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Doug Sikes will officiate.

Carl Homer Stilwell was born the son of Henry Homer Stilwell and Vetrice Nichols Stilwell on September 19, 1922, in Ada. He died on November 15, 2006, in Chickasha. Carl graduated from Ada High School, then attended East Central University in Ada. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served in the European Theater during World War II.

During his war service, he was awarded many medals including two Bronze Service Stars and attained the rank of sergeant. He returned to Ada and married Lyla R. Kelly on July 19, 1946.

Carl lived in many places and eventually settled in Chickasha in 1956. In 1965, he began working for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City and retired in 1982. During this time, he worked as a sheet metal mechanic and moved into management as a KC-135 Production Management Specialist.

After retirement, he and his wife became actively involved in mission work. Carl was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Survivors include: wife: Lyla Stilwell of the home; Son: Larry Stilwell of Fremont, New Hampshire; Daughter: Carla Stilwell of Choctaw; Daughter: Martha Stilwell of Chickasha; Sister: Lorene Cope of Ada; Grandson: Todd Stilwell of Deerfield, New Hampshire; Three Great-Grandchildren; One Nephew; Two Nieces.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
