Funeral services for Wesley B. Smith, 94, of Chickasha are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home.

Wesley B. Smith was born December 16, 1912, in Ninnekah. He died June 10, 2007, in Chickasha.

Wesley B. Smith

Graveside services for Wesley B. Smith, 94, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Wesley Smith was born December 16, 1912, in the Farwell community, near Ninnekah, the son of Russel D. and Tomasa Pearl [Farwell] Smith. He died June 10, 2007, in Chickasha.

He married Claudia Velma Swinney on October 14, 1936, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

After having lived in Wichita, Kansas, where he worked at Beechcraft, and later Midwest City, where he worked for Tinker, he moved his family of three back to the Farwell Community in 1947, where he and his wife farmed and ranched here for 60 years.

He loved to dance, and they belonged to several square dance clubs. They loved to travel and took many wonderful trips with their daughter and grandchildren.

After retiring his time was spent gardening and landscaping on his farm.

He was a member of the Church of God, and enjoyed traveling with his church friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Claudia; both parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia and husband Bill Caruthers, of Chickasha; grandson, Mike and wife Trish Caruthers, of Norman; granddaughter, Marcia and husband Ronnie Stidham, of Chickasha; granddaughter, Debbie and husband Kent Halfast, of Houston, Texas; two great-grandsons: Chris and Kyle Halfast, of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
