Mary Ellen [Munn] Russell

Funeral service for Mary Ellen Russell, age 93, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009, at the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Dye will officiate.

Mary Ellen Russell was born the daughter of John Duncan Munn and Mary Ann Munn on February 19, 1916, in Danville, Arkansas. She died on September 22, 2009, in Chickasha.

Mary Ellen was married to George "Vernon" Russell on March 2, 1940 in Purcell, OK.

She worked as a nurses aide at Grady Memorial Hospital until she retired.

She enjoyed piecing quilts and spending time with her family.

Mary Ellen was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Audice and Buford Munn; two sisters, Floydel Smith and Audrey Cook; an infant son, George Vernon Russell, Jr.; her husband George Vernon Russell; and an infant Grandson, Ronnie Dale Hammons. Survivors include: Brother: RV Munn of Chickasha, Daughter and Husband: Regina McCool and Eddie of Chickasha, Daughter and Husband: Jelantha Elliott and Don of Chickasha, Grandson and wife: Chad Hammons and Melanie of Chickasha, Grandson: Seth McCool of Pensacola, Florida, Granddaughter: Shollie Hammons of Chickasha, Granddaughter: Cassie Reyes and husband, Julian of Oklahoma City, Granddaughter: Melissa Elliott of Lakewood, ColoradoGreat Grandchildren: Tim and Karlie Hammons of Chickasha; Blake Maxwell of Chickasha; and Riley Reyes of Oklahoma City.

Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha.
