Master Sergeant Granville Louis Reyburn

Funeral service for Master Sergeant Granville Louis Reyburn, United States Air Force Retired, age 90, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the First Christian Church. Rev. Michael Oberlender will officiate.

Granville Louis Reyburn was born the son of Earl Reyburn and Lila Loffhagen Reyburn on October 27, 1918 in Chickasha. He died on February 28, 2009 in Chickasha.

Louis attended Chickasha Schools.

In 1941, he entered the United States Air Force during World War II. Louis served in England, Africa, Italy, France, Germany, and Corsica.

After being honorably discharged in 1945, he returned to Chickasha. Louis remained in the United States Air Force Reserves. He purchased Red Bird Cab Company which he operated for several years. Louis also worked for Consolidated Gas Company and Bolton's Dairy.

In 1951, he was recalled to active duty in the United States Air Force serving in England, Guam, and Thailand. Louis retired in 1969 with twenty-two years of active duty and six years in the reserves.

He also worked for Hayes Thompson Chevrolet. After retirement, he worked for Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and Elizabeth Preece and Associates Realty.

Louis was a member of the First Christian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge where he received his fifty year pin, a member of the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Adelaide Risner Reyburn, his wife, Nova Reyburn Tyson, and two brothers-in-law, John B. Winstead, Jr. and Joseph W. Preece. Survivors include: Son and Wife: Kurt Alan and Eileen Reyburn of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Sister: Erma Reyburn Winstead of Chickasha, Sister: Elizabeth Reyburn Preece of Chickasha, Niece: Jan Preece Gaddis of Duncan, Niece and Husband: Susan Preece and Douglas Barnes of Dallas, Texas, Great Nephew: Douglas A. Barnes, Jr. of The Plains, Virginia, Great Nephew: Joseph W. Barnes of Rockwall, Texas.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
