Charles Beaver Pruner Sr

LONG TIME RESIDENT DIES ON WEDNESDAY

Charles B. Pruner, 86, 1108 South 20th, a grandson of the well known Indian leader Black Beaver, died about 1:30 pm Wednesday in Grady Memorial Hospital.

A Wichita allottee on the Indian rolls, Pruner was born Sept. 8, 1879, in Anadarko, I. T. He attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan., graduating in 1894.

Pruner moved to Grady County in 1895, residing in the Chickasha and Verden areas for the past 70 years. He was a farmer-stockman, retiring in 1955. He had been in failing health the past three years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gaylord Knowles, Chickasha, and Mrs. Wanda Brown, Littleton, Colo.; nine sons, Pat of Oklahoma City, Walter of Monroe, La., Charles B., Jr. and James of Albuquerque, N.M., Bob of Los Alamos, N. M., Jess of Carlsbad, N.M., Blake of Baltimore, Md., Harold of Littleton, Colo., William of Anadarko; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Sturm of Fort Cobb; 32 grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm Friday in Sevier's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Charles Sullivan, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.

Cynthia Payne [Anderson] Pruner

Funeral service for Mrs. Cynthia Pruner, 82, 624 South 16th Street, will be at 1:30 pm Friday in the chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pruner was born Oct. 6, 1892, in Chickasha. She died Tuesday in Grady Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pruner had been in failing health for the last year.

She had lived in the Chickasha area all of her life. She farmed northeast of Chickasha. The land was her original Choctaw Indian allotment.

Her husband, Charles Pruner, preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1965. A daughter, Waneta Pruner, preceded her in death in 1950.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gaylord [Norma] Knowles of Chickasha, and Mrs. Wanda Bryan of Rockville, Md.; nine sons, Bill Pruner of Shawnee, Harold Pruner of Old Greenwich, Conn., Blake Pruner of Gaithersburg, Md., Jess Pruner, Jim Pruner, and C. B. Pruner, all of Albuquerque, N. M., Bob Pruner of Los Alamos, N.M. Pat Pruner of Oklahoma City, and Walt Pruner of Monroe, La.; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Holcomb of Visalia; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Walter Leonard Pruner

Funeral for Walter Leonard Pruner, 79, Monroe, La., will be at 10:30 am Friday, March 9, 1984, in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mr. Pruner was born July 22, 1984, in Monroe, La., in the St. Francis Medical Center.

Mr. Pruner was a building supervisor for Montgomery Ward and retired in 1972 and moved to Monroe, La.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Norma L. Mulhearn of Monroe, La., and Mrs. Burney M. Sherman, also of Monroe; two sisters, Wanda Byram, of Albuquerque, N. M., and Norma Knowles of Chickasha; seven brothers, Bill Pruner of Shawnee, Harold Pruner of Old Greenwich, Conn., Blake Pruner of Randallstown, Md., Jess Pruner of Albuquerque, N. M., Bob Pruner of Pensacola, Fla., Jim Pruner of Albuquerque, N. M., and C. B. Pruner of Chickasha; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Waneta Pruner

PRUNER MASS AT 9 SATURDAY

Requiem mass for Miss Waneta Pruner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pruner, 624 South 16th, will be said at 9 am Saturday in Holy Name Catholic Church by Rev. Bart A. Murtaugh.

Rosary will be said at 8 pm Friday in the chapel of Chickasha Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with Chickasha Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Miss Pruner died Tuesday at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City after an illness of over a year.

Richanda M. Pruner

Funeral for Mrs. Richanda M. "Cindy" Pruner, 60, Albuquerque, N. M. was at 4 pm Saturday, Oct. 4, 1980, in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Bell, pastor of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Organ interludes were played by Mrs. Frieda Young.

Pallbearers were Russell Pruner, Dan Knowles, Mike Harris, Greg Winham, Larry Sevier and Bill Bitsche.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Wanda [Pruner] Byram

Funeral service for Wanda Pruner Byram, 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Wanda Pruner Byram was born March 4, 1921 in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles Beaver, a Delaware Indian, and Cynthia [Anderson] Pruner, a Choctaw Indian, and died Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Chickasha.

Wanda grew up on the family farm, a Choctaw Indian allotment of her mother's 5 miles NE of Chickasha. She graduated from Amber High School.

She worked as a nurse at Borden General Hospital during World War II and later worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and retired after 30 years as a Senior Administrative Personnel Officer.

She received commendations for her excellent service with the BIA. Wanda lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for over 25 years and moved back to Chickasha 2 years ago.

Wanda was preceded in death by: Parents; one son: Dwain Brown; seven brothers: Blake Pruner, C.B. Pruner, Bob Pruner, Walter Pruner, Pat Pruner, Jim Pruner and Jess Pruner; one sister: Waneta Pruner.

Survivors include: Children: Blain Brown and wife Ada of Los Angeles, California; Vicki Tyler and husband Toby of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Cynthia Schoppet and husband Chuck of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister: Norma Knowles of Chickasha; two brothers: Harold Pruner and wife Ann of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; Bill Pruner and wife Joan of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren: Charles, Curtis, Craig, Casey, Cade, Chandra, Teena, April, Christine and Shawn; six great-grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
